Baptist General Conference Identity Statement
The Baptist General Conference is a fellowship of Baptist Churches whose theology is Biblically evangelical, whose character is multi-ethnic, and whose spirit is positive and affirmative, and whose people celebrate openness and freedom in the context of Christ’s Lordship.

1. We believe the Bible to be the fully inspired, inerrant word of God, inspired by the Holy Spirit and supreme authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

2. We believe in the Triune God: fully Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; three in One.

3. We believe in God the Father, infinite in wisdom, power and love.

4. We believe in Jesus Christ: only begotten son of the Father; born of the virgin Mary; took upon himself the sins of the world, and died on a wooden cross, that we should be set free from all bondage to sin. That Jesus is the living, loving, and forgiving Lord who intercedes on our behalf.

5. We believe in the Holy Spirit: that He indwells every believer in Jesus Christ, is our constant guide and teacher.

6. We believe all people are born into sin, and that those who repent of their sins and believe in Jesus Christ as their Savior, will be saved and “born again”.

7. We believe in the universal church: a living spiritual body of believers, in which Jesus Christ is the head. We believe in the local church, whereby the primary task is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost and sinful world.

8. We believe that those professing faith in Jesus Christ, should live for the glory of God: faithful stewards in all things, whose life reflects the love and grace of Christ Jesus.

9. We believe that our Lord Jesus has commanded of all believers two ordinances: baptism by immersion as a symbol of our redemption from sin, and the partaking of the Lord's Supper (Communion) as a commemoration of Christ's death.

10. We believe that all born again believers have a direct line to Jesus Christ regarding all matters of faith, prayer, and confession of sins: we believe that all matters between the State and the church should be kept separate, as each serves a different function.

11. We believe that our church can best promote the cause of Jesus Christ through the voluntary cooperation with a District Conference.

12. Lastly, we believe that one day our Lord Jesus Christ will return to earth to establish an everlasting Kingdom. We believe in the resurrection of the body, and the final judgment. We believe that all believers in Jesus Christ will reign eternally with Jesus in the New Jerusalem, and that all non-believers will share eternity with Satan In the Lake of Fire.
